Jockey's Ridge

Before hitting the road we made a stop at Jockey's ridge to check out the sand dunes and to fly our kite. The boys thought the dunes were pretty cool and it allowed them to burn lots of energy before piling into the car.

Last day on the beach...

Here are the kiddos during their last day at the beach. They were excited to hear that pirates had run by when they were in the water and hid their treasure in the sand. It didn't take long for them to find it! (Gavin was not taking our word for it that they were plastic coins and not chocolate-not much of a treasure for him!)

Go Karts!!

Mommy and Daddy took Landon to ride some go karts one afternoon at the beach. He had a great time racing with Daddy and playing some games at the arcade. We topped it off with a yummy strawberry drink treat!

Roanoke Island

We checked out the rest of the settlement and history of Roanoke Island as well and ended with a little pirate dress-up fun!

"Pirate Ship"

One day we headed down to Roanoke Island to check out the "pirate ship" and the history of the area.

Dancing

About to board the ship

Swabbing the deck!

Landon was excited but super shy to the "pirates" on the ship.

More fun in the sand

Building castles, ditches and paths in the sand never gets old.

Crab chasing and seashell collecting

The kids loved following around Uncle Drew who was good at catching critters in the sand...

 Another evening of collecting seashells...

Gavin yelling, "Watch out Zazzy, SHARK!"

Best buddies ;)

Kites

Here are some pics of us flying some kites on the beach as the sun was setting.
